Yesterday, I watched a pitcher throw 138 pitches, his team up 7-2 end of 8th. It was evident that he was very tired, but brought back in the 9th, not sure what the coach was thinking, though the broadcast guys said either he wanted to give him a complete game or he didn't trust his pen.
Got stuck in the 9th with one out, relieved, the other team ended up winning the game, 9-7. No win for the pitcher, a team loss on a 138 pitch count, and FWIW, a freshman.
Curious, I checked the pitch count watch, he has already gone 133 a few weeks ago,
What is this coach thinking?
No way, would we encourage son to follow through if he was being recruited by this coach, I don't care what conference he plays in.
