The Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 would have swept the Cubs this weekend if it hadn't been for a disastrous middle relief performance by Meek and Resop. That's 2 road game wins already compared to only 17 the entire last year. Pass the Kool- aid!!

And our Mariners are playing .500 ball, so there is something quite strange going on this season already.

Twins are 1-3.

They come to play every day believing they can win. The good young pitching is showing why its good young pitching. Now if it and the bullpen can just hold up......

Is this post a repeat from last year's start? Or was it the year before? If the O's continue to play well maybe there will be as many as 10,000 O's fans in the stands when the Red Sox come to town.

...and the Royals won another game tonight in extra innings to stay at the top of the AL Central. This was supposed to be a write-off year to clear the way for their prospects. I'm not sure I like this.

Per ESPN early today, for the Red Sox/Evil Empire North crew: 85 teams have begun their seasons 0-5 in MLB history. 2 made the playoffs. Sox are 0-5. I'm just sayin'...

Verlander and Avila did a nice job of breaking them up last night! Had to represent the "D" and get in my shot while I could...

Verlander is a good 'ol Virginia boy so if the O's have to lose, I'd just as soon he be the guy. Not really good karma when our ace (Guthrie) goes into the hospital with pneumonia...

The Sox are now 5 games out...after 6 games.

I'm not crazy enough to believe that 4% of the season's games definitively means anything, but clearly our O's are a much improved club, and judging by the consternation up north, some of the Red Sox faithful are getting a little tight...

The O's magic number dropped again last night, and is now at 155.

Just remember--virtually every ML team is going to win 55 games and lose 55 games. It's only what they do in the other 52 games that matters!

The road to the championship goes thru TEXAS! I commend the manage turning that team around. I believe they will have a good season but its too early to give them a great season. Just thinking about winning their division is too much to handle. When all is said and done, they all have to come to Arlington and take it away....

Texas is no longer undefeated and the magic number is 154.

Texas still has the best record in baseball after they spank the O's 13-1 in game 2. Mr. Harrison is a nice little #3 starter! The road to the AL championship does indeed go through Arlington.

The Rangers looked awfully good to me!

Health is always a big if, but if their starting pitchers stay healthy like last year they will be very tough to beat. They have a ton of flexibility defensively to absorb injuries without missing a beat. They have 3 different guys that are playing 3 or more different positions and Washington is rotating them around like that in games now so they are ready. Their bullpen is much stronger than last year. I guess no one took the Rangers for real last year because everyone seems surprised the defending AL champs actually look good.
