I've always heard that no matter how long you watch baseball, you'll still see something that you've never seen before. And that happened last night in a Summer collegiate game.

Kid squared to bunt and laid it down perfectly to move the runner over. But the bat splintered in half at the handle. The weird thing is that I was at the backstop with a clear view and he caught the ball directly on the barrel. All of his teammates were giving him a hard time for breaking a bat on a bunt. He was confused as well because he told them that he bunted it cleanly on the barrel.

Maybe the bat was already slightly cracked, or maybe it was just time.
