This is an excerpt from an e-mail I received this week from Larry Wallace, thought I would help spread the word...

"This award is presented yearly to the Division I player of the year in college baseball. It is named the Brooks Wallace Award in memory of my older brother, Brooks, who passed away in 1985 at the age of 27. (Brooks was from Plano and was a stand-out 4yr player at Texas Tech, then later an assistant coach at Texas Tech.)

It is televised nationally each year on FSN and FCS, as a one hour long special. It is a sold out event every year and is held at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock. I write this email to encourage you to watch or Tivo the event on your tv, as it
is vital that ratings stay high and viewership is such that they will keep televising the event each year. So this is my part in getting all the people I know to tune in and keep ratings high."

It will be televised on July 14th. For more info on the award, please go to the website at
www.collegebaseballfoundation.org.
(The award ceremony was held on July 3rd but is not televised until July 14th)

The 2007 award was presented to David Price from Vanderbilt.
