I am curious what routine you have your pitchers use while pitching in the bullpen (pre-game and between games)(Note: I coach a 14u feeder/travel team).
Here is what I do:
The pitcher throws 6 consecutive pitches of each pitch (i.e. fastball, change, curve...). The overall goal is a minimum of 24 pitches but more if needed.
1. first 2 pitches are get over pitches to get a feel for the pitch
2. next 2 pitches are inside pitches
3. next 2 pitches are outside pitches
If they need a couple more throws for the pitch type they will throw that. I think pitchers get a better feel, command, and execution of a pitch when it is repeated.
