Kid playing in front of him was large football player, not very mobile, concrete glove. Great swing from left side but was 2 for 50 at the plate. Averaged about 2 E's per game at 1b, including several game critical errors.
Finally coach gives my son a shot, starts 4 games and they dh for him. Plays well, 2 errors over 4 full games at 1b, not game critical. Several parents of starters tell me how glad they are he is playing instead of other kid.
Then last night, no warning or forshadowing, the big kid is back in there starting and playing whole game. He played well and got his 3rd hit of the season.
My son's concern is with only 7 games left coaches leash won't be short enough on the big kid for him to get back in there.
Not sure what kind of advice I'm looking for but wonder what others would say to their kid in this sutuation other than "life's not fair..."
