Have a friend whose Son started there and absolutely loved the school, but unfortunately he was cut after Fall, and has since transferred to a D2. (He was an invited walk-on)

Butler has struggled a bit lately in the Horizon League. The program has seen some great facility renovations over the past year including a new indoor facility down the left field line that has changed the scenery around the field (adds to the atmosphere for sure). Butler has a quality coaching staff and the institution is highly respected in the academic world.
They have some work to do in order to become more competitive in the Horizon League but from my understanding they picked up some key players from around the area/region for 2010/11 that will point them in the right direction. Outside of baseball and academics the area is great with a college town atmosphere and Hinkle Fieldhouse (basketball) is a treat.

Thanks Pastime. My son's a soph and just beginning to think about college and baseball at that level. We've been to the campus and will be playing a tournament there this summer. I think he has the ability to play D-1 mid major (but then I'm a little biased). Should be an interesting journey.
Not sure I would call Butler a mid-major in baseball?
The Horizon league is ranked # 25 out of 31 conferences and Butler is ranked #291 out of 302
D-1's by Nolan's Power Index.
Boyd's has them #286.
Nonetheless, as Pastime said, it's a good school with nice facilities and a nice atmosphere.
