SaveCalBasebook Facebook has a fine leader named Doug Nickle. For what's worth Doug met today with Governor Brown who said CAL should have a baseball team NOW and forever more.

Is the former Governator - Arnold right around the corner...how about Gavin Newsome and CAL grad Larry Baer.

Coach Esques spoke today about 2013 noting that it might have to be "down" for 2012.

What a shame is an understatement. 118 years of college baseball and the most players in the major leagues.

The Chancellor and AD should be ashamed and removed. Maybe the treehuggers will take out their wrath on those two.
The womens teams were not cut because of Title IX concerns. I also read that part of the reason funding for certain programs to keep mens teams alive is is not allowed because "equal womens teams must also be funded so as to not create any disparity".

Note this comment;

"We are delighted that, together, we have found a path that allows us to retain the two women’s teams".

What bothers me is that those who support Title IX do not just come out and admit it is an overriding factor in their decision. Instead they come up with this type of drivel regarding the mens teams they cut;

"Both programs would have needed to raise multiples of what they actually did raise to meet our criteria. In the context of both current and forecasted economic and financial conditions, we simply could not agree to short-term, stopgap measures.”
