Question for PG Staff- Some very good talent!! Lots of D1 committed players. Is this an invite only event? Do you get a good showing of scouts? Is there a showcase type evaluation afterward?
Yes is the answer to all those questions. I'm not sure how much the rescheduling (due to weather) will affect things, but lots of real talented players. There are also a lot of real talented players we couldn't get in, because it is a fairly small event as far as numbers.
Thanks PG Staff. I did notice the schedule was much shorter with a late Saturday check-in with just Saturday play. It's not one of your events that is widely known. Why?
I think the weather (and the postponement) had a lot to do with the shortened schedule and the smaller turnout. HS winter ball may be a consideration for some players.
Promotion is a sticky topic, since this is an invitation-only event. I think it is fairly well known amongst the So Cal BB community, but the timing is poor since it's one week after the Cal Underclass Showcase and some players can't commit to 2 weekends in a row in San Bernardino. I'd like to see the All-Star Games moved to the summer when Pro AND college scouts could attend.
That's a strong group of players there, but it could be stronger. I guess the question is when there's the most value added for the kids who play in the event? I don't know the answer.
I wanted to follow and say the event was filled with talent!! The underclassman brought solid pitching!! My son was very happy he had a chance to play. Well worth the trip. Thanks PG for squeezing it in between the raindrops!
Thanks CADad. Received invitation on a referal. My son isn't highly ranked and doesn't have a bunch of events or exposure. For the most part he held his own and had fun. As with the other showcase he attended this one was very pitching dominate. I assume that is normal? Exciting to think that many of those players from Socal will be high on the draft board!
