I had a question, well maybe more seeking advice for my son. As many of you are aware, California jucos do not give out scholarships, basically an open ended commitment in that I'm guessing you're technically fair game until school starts. If one is already committed to a CA juco, I'm guessing that precludes them from recruitment by other CA jucos, well generally speaking. Now I understand that they can still be recruited by any NCAA or NAIA school, regardless of the division, but how does that work if a different state's juco (part of NJCAA that offers scholarships) comes knocking? Would/should a NJCAA's recruitment practice mirror the NCAA/NAIA since they offer scholarships? or do they generally back off once they know you are already committed to a CA juco?
And how should the player handle it? Meaning does he tell the current coach that he is being recruited/offered or do CA juco coaches usually expect that?
Any words of wisdom about this would be great...
