I would like to get some input from parents and players who have attended both the Stanford and Headfirst camps. From reading various posts, I've gathered the following:
a) Both camps are high quality
b) Both camps attract mostly academically selective East Coast colleges.
c) There is some overlap in the college coaches attending these camps, especially since Headfirst starts the day after the Stanford camp concludes.

If you were to do it again and had to choose just one camp to attend, which one would it be and why? Thanks for any information you may have.

All the best,

Monty

Thanks for the link Krak.

We are planning to go to either the West Coast or VA Headfirst camp this year as a incoming Jr, and then the Stanford camp next year as a Sr. Our thought process was to get on the radar screen for some of the Ivy’s/academic schools and then go to Stanford a year later when his velocity was closer to the D1 requirements. (hopefully…)

I have been told the scheduling gets complicated if you are a pitcher because they are back-to-back camps. (West Coast)

It also gets even more complicated because the USA National 16U Championship series in Arizona (same week as the Stanford camp) is the week before the Headfirst camp also....so this may force us to go to the VA camp anyway….

You can also see some more threads on the subject by doing a search on “Headfirst”

I am a big fan of Headfirst, Virginia but have no frame of reference re: Stanford. Your concern about stacking is real. The only time in my son's life that he ever experienced any pain in his arm was after Headfirst.

The way the coaches mingled among players and parents made the experience very personal. It permitted my son to approach these men and get used to pitching himself, while also evaluating them. I don't know that he would have had that type of experience at any other showcase.
BOF,

I think the VA Headfirst camp is their prime camp, and it has way more college coaches at it than the one in CA (CA is still good, but VA has larger attendance). It is highly respected by attendees as well as college coaches. The Stanford camp is also tremendous - the single best college camp, IMHO. So, your plan sounds good.
Both camps are great. We did it just as BOF plans to - HF in his junior summer, Stanford in his senior summer.

It's hard to say which one I would choose if I had to choose one. Stanford had a few more programs represented, and was a day longer. Coaches at both camps were plenty accessible and serious about recruiting.

The Stanford experience of staying in the dorms is a big plus.
