I just thought about this.  It is repeated over and over on here that on-campus camps are mainly moneymakers for the school, specifically for the assistant coaches who aren't paid.  What is happening to those unpaid coaches, now that many schools have cancelled camps, and even those that haven't will probably have many fewer campers?

Great question. Does the camp pay them as a 1099? If so, technically the camp could potentially file for a PPP and pay them. I don’t see many camps doing this though.

I applied for a PPP for my small business.  I  was given conflicting information about 1099s.  Our payroll vendor said that they can be included in the application.  The bank said that only W2s can be included, but that 1099 employees can file for themselves.  I'm not sure what is correct, but just passing along what I heard.

Volunteer assistants usually get paid every month from camp proceeds. The check comes from the camp account, which usually belongs to the HC, not the school.  The assistants get paid for prospect camps.   But I an assuming and hoping there will be camp around holiday time.

There would have not been camp at this time as it's  bb season. Here in FL,  camps are during holiday breaks and summer.

The volunteer assistants (at FAU), family lives close by so I am assuming he is home with them.

My bank asked for a contractor payment report to be included in my application, so I included them.
