Here is my situation. I am planning for this winter and my parents and I are wondering if we should spend money on development or camps/showcases. If we were to go to camps/showcases around $2,000 would likely be spent. However, if we go the development route we can use that $2,000 towards lessons, lifting, etc. All in all, I’m wondering which one makes more sense for a 2021?

How much more are you expected to grow? What year are you? These are important variables. You should never stop physical and skills development.

If you have solid measurables to display focus on showcases. If you don’t focus on development.

Be careful regarding camps. A lot of them are nothing more than spring trip fund raisers anyone can attend. If you do camps make sure they are prospect camps.

Development is learning the game of baseball. Training, studying and playing the game. Analyzing your swing. Studying the opposing pitcher, the playing field, the weather.

Remember the pro scouts and College coaches have two difficulties.

#1. Scouting the bat     #2 Scouting the heart.

Question: how can YOU improve with the bat and your heart.  6th Tool.

Work to get bigger, stronger, faster. Play a lot against the best competition you can.

Buy Eric Cressey’s High Performance Handbook (on-line) for $99. Follow his workouts religiously. Follow his food intake suggestions. It’s the best investment I have made for my son. He is a 2020.

Good luck and keep us posted!
