I am a 2008 catcher from Toronto, Canada. I am currently looking at the D3/JUCO route, though I'm not exactly sure where I want to go. As a senior, I feel that I am really running short on time with finding a place to play next year. I have a 1280 math/verbal SAT score, and have seen my hitting improve over the last month or so.

My coaches have not done much with aiding me in my recruiting process, though I do not expect them to; it's quite time consuming doing it from up here.

Not sure where to go from here. If anyone has any advice, contacts, information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Blake

Blake,
Do not panic yet although you do need to get busy.
Here in Texas, many players are invited to teams in the summer before classes begin, especially when looking at JUCO. In fact, both years my son was at his JUCO, new players arrived in January and played that season.

Find schools you are interested in, contact the coach and they will let you know if they want to discuss the situation further.

Fill out the player questionaire, if available. Send an email to the coach. Pick up the phone and leave a message if he doesn't pick up.

You have to take the lead at this point.

I'm hardly an expert, and I'm sure others can give you more valuable advice but I do know that team decisions are being made late into the summer and you want to be on the coach's mind when he is making those final choices.

There are several Canadian players who came here to the Lone Star State to play and I'm guessing it will be similar in other parts of the country. If you want it, go out and get it!
