It's only March and my 1A migraine has begun. I love the small school and that is why I chose to stay (if you saw my classes you would understand), but teaching a sophomore how to catch a baseball is wearing on me a bit.

Forget bunt defenses and 1st & 3rds...we spend an hour playing catch.

I will bet that at least 5 times we have discovered that a player is trhowing with the wrong hand! I love having numbers, don't get me wrong, as a 1A JV seems to be pipe dream for most and I have 30 out, but please, for the love of God, go out and play catch with your kids!

Bored...thought I would rant.

Midlo is deep. They have juniors on JV that are there because there are so many seniors playing certain positions that a couple of juniors cant get playing time on varsity. So there is no place for freshmen to be moved up. There is only one sophmore on varsity and he is sppedy outfielder which seems to be the only place they are short of seniors, besides middle infield.

2 seniors at catcher, 3 at 1st, and senior starters at 3b, 2b and RF. Tough for Juniors to crack the lineup right now.
A coach can only do so much with what he/she gets, especially with a sport like baseball that takes years of repetition to achieve decent results. My daughters softball team is playing girls at her school that a year ago never played softball before, and the other schools in her district have all select ballplayers at each position. Its unrealistic to say you can compete merely based on "hard work and a dream."
Aleebaba, don't even get me started on softball. My daughter is finally in high school and it sickens me how bad it is. 14u select will kill these teams.

anyway, as I ranted on best high school teams post, I feel this season is going to be hard to sit thru. Errors, routine play errors, no contact hitting, just inexperience. Lost a lot of leadership and it shows. ready for some good summer ballgames.

Have fun at the ballpark, enjoy this great game.
