IMHO, the difference was C'Ville did not throw their #1 or #2 and Southlake took big time advantage. Southlake didn't throw their #1 or #2 either but their pitchers (particularly the 2nd pitcher) did a nice job of living on the corners. They didn't make nearly as many mistakes right down the middle of the plate. From my vantagepoint, it looked like Southlake's two HRs were hit off pitches laid out on a tee about belt high.

Because this game wasn't 'do or die' for either, both teams made the decision to not use their top guys and hopefully secure a 'W'. That way their #1 and #2 would be fresh for later in the week. It worked for Southlake but not for Colleyville. Although, I understand Lane was sharp against Ryan and, bottom line, Colleyville's on their way to the post season. A success anyway you look at it.

You know 5-5A is tough when a team the caliber of Denton Ryan is not in the playoffs.
Frogdawg hit the nail right on the head. Coach Alan Mcdougals thinking was the same as southlakes, but Carroll took advantage of the young sophmore pitcher, Kyle Duncan. Mcdougal was trying to save Lane and Deleo so that they would be fresh. But as district 5_5a shows, any given day any team can get a win. But now that district is over it is time to focus on the playoffs. Heritage will be facing SGP on thursday @ SGP. Deleo is most likely going to be the starting seeing that he only pitched the 7th inning on monday against Denton to secure the win. Should be a good game.

How do the Colleyville people like Coach McDougal? 2nd year, right? I never did figure out why Coach Webb left to go to 4A Waxahacie. He's doing great there this year, but he had several fine years a CHHS too. 3 District titles, I think. Why did he go?
