Coach,
Nice website. Someone has spent many hours putting it together. I notice you have a defined method of teaching hitting and catching mechanics. Do you allow your players to attend private lessons with baseball instructors? Do you encourage players to attend showcases? I also notice you have posted your mandatory off season work-out schedule. Does the TSSAA have a problem with your mandatory required off-season workouts as out lined in your “player letter”?

WINTER WORKOUTS BEGIN IN NOVEMBER. THESE WILL BE 5 DAYS A WEEK INCLUDING SNOW DAYS. YOU ARE EXPECTED TO BE THERE. NO EXCUSES. IF YOU MISS A WORKOUT OR STUDY HALL YOU WILL BE DISCIPLINED UP TO DISMISSAL FROM THE PROGRAM. WINNING IS HARD. IT TAKES SACRIFICE. BUT IT’S ALSO REWARDING. ANYTHING WORTHWHILE IN LIFE HAS A PRICE – HARD WORK.

Thanks in advance,
Fungo

thanks for your reply and pointing that out. ive went back and changed that letter. i'd left that in from a past letter and when i changed it for this letter to post on website i overlooked it. thanks for pointing that out. no - we cant make them mandatory. we do have makeup work if they miss because its a progressive workout. each day builds on the last. but thats not been a problem. we usually have everybody there though. we dont cut or have tryouts. it just works out. so far. our kids in all sports are just used to working out. we work well together as a coaching staff and encourage our kids to be there in all sports. football, basketball, and baseball workout together during the summer doing the same program and overlap workouts at times during the winter. we are just in a good situation where all our coaches work together for the same goal. we share alot of kids.
we've never had anybody get private lessons and discourage it as a waste of money in most cases. we are very involved in our youth program in getting the needed instruction to them. we teach hitting the same way from our 8 year olds up.
we try to get our kids to the free tbca showcase. we get our kids workouts with college coaches without them having to pay for trying out. we also have the crosschecker for the indians living in our neighborhood which helps us out alot. you can email at coachd_04@yahoo.com if you have any other questions. thanks - steve
