you gotta give a situation.
One out, runner on first. RH Batter crowds the plate and squares to bunt. Pitcher throws the ball inside, batter tips the ball as the catcher hits the bat with his glove. Runner on first steals second and is safe. Whats the call.
That would be catcher's interference. the batter did nothing to interfere with the catcher except attempt to bunt- which is perfectly legal. the catcher touched the bat- which is obstruction.
I've never really had a case where it was in question. In most cases it is going to be clearly one or the other. That said, think of it like a ball hitting the bat in fair territory, ball hits bat OK, bat hits ball it's an out. In your case if the batter hits the catcher it's BI, if the catcher hits the bat it's CI.

Since the batter did not advance on the play, the offensive coach can take the play or the penalty. He'll take the penalty - batter goes to First, R1 stays on Second.
