The batter is either charge with an AB or not...
it's one off the only choices about a play in baseball.

If positive happened, base hit, and or run scored you have the option of taking the result you want...in this case BH, rbi, no error on catcher.

Batter is not charged with an AB and it does not count in OBP, if you take the other route or result was not good, catcher is charged with an error.

This is like the trick rule.
