In high school are you allowed to wear the catchers mask with a skull cap or are we limited to wearing hockey masks?

In HS you are required to wear a helmet/mask combo that has double ear protection. It doesn't have to be a hockey style mask but it does have to be tested together and they all have to carry the NOCSAE emblem. Skull caps are not legal in HS.
as a kid we used to play pick up games. We batted with no helmets. I guess I am lucky to have survived?
just kidding. safety of the players is paramount. I remember years ago there was a rule forbidding metal cleats in high school. Our school was not part of the state association.(Private) We played a non league game and I was not aware of the rule. No game. The no metal cleat lasted about 2 years

Do you play any baseball besides HS. If so the youth organization that allows a skull cap in AL.

no you wont.......I check helmets and bats......and that the helmet the catcher is wearing is legal.......in NFHS games you will not play wearing a skull cap and mask combo........
in summer leagues, feel free to wear it.....
Not that I wear skull caps, but can you wear one under your hat, helmet, or mask?

Thats got to be it.........we are talking about the separate protective helmets that catchers wear. They can have a bill like a traditional hat or without... the traditional mask and harness slips over the helmet in a separate manner......Niether have ear protection which is why they are not legal for NFHS use.....
I was thinking of like fabric, or like the underarmour kind... just put on before you wear your hat or helmet. I figured it doesn't do any harm because you can't see it.
Yes, a cloth cap under your mask is fine. We associate skull cap with a hard cap like helmet that you see some college and pro catchers wear.
