Just wanted to give everybody an update and let you know that my iPhone app Catcher's Performance Summary is now available on the App Store.

It lets you track and email a catchers defensive statistics...I will post a video tutorial sometime around the first of the year.

I was just trying to let everybody know that it was available and thought it was relevant to this board. It is the first and only application that keeps statistics for catchers...pretty neat in my opinion, especially if you are trying to help a catcher improve.

I am the one who developed it, but I contribute to the board so I didn't think that people would mind me posting about it. It has been on here without a comment for 2 weeks and this is the first negative response that I've gotten from it.

I'll be sure to not post when my book, dvd, and other developments come out on here if it is going to offend people. Sorry!
Thanks guys! I would actually like to post more than I do, but I have to be careful because of all the NCAA rules. I'm not allowed to comment on any thread that is specifically about a player...I can't comment on a players video, directly answer a players question, etc. Therefore, I can only comment in general threads that aren't geared toward a specific athlete.

Coach2709 - Right now there is not, you must have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to use it. Once I break even (if that happens!) I am going to have it programmed for the Droid.

For those who are interested, I just posted the tutorial video that can be seen in the "How it Works" tab on www.CatchersPerformanceSummary.com

Please feel free to give me some feedback about it...I'd love to hear what others think!

Thanks!
Xan,
I enjoyed listening to you speak this past weekend in Nashville. I already downloaded your app, which by the way is a great idea. I previously had to pull that information from the score book after games so this will be much easier.

Any thoughts on adding all of these together to produce a master catching stat? For example, I take the catcher's stats and produce a total number of bases allowed? (ie. PB plus one, CS minus one, etc) It was amazing to learn the actually difference between my number one catcher and my number two. Just a thought, again I enjoyed listening to you this past weekend. Good luck this season.
Rifles,

Thanks, I really appreciate that...it was a blast speaking this weekend. I hope that I got some people fired up about really coaching their catchers!

I actually have thought about that. I'd like to be able to find a formula that calculates a "Catcher Rating", just not exactly sure how to do it (which stats hold how much weight, etc.?). If you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them. That sounds like an interesting stat that you keep, might be kind of difficult to add to the app though...I want to to remain easy to use and the more categories I add (hits, total bases, etc.) makes it more difficult to navigate.

I would love to hear feedback from anyone who has downloaded it and could give me some tips to make it better!

Good luck to you and your team too this season!
Coach Barksdale, I just wanted to say thanks for the website and the great emails that are motivational, instruction and encouraging to my '14 catcher. I haven't downloaded the app yet though I have considered doing so (maybe when the season starts). Keep up the good work and keep Louisville going strong (even though I am a UK fan-haha)!
