The Central Illinois Outlaws will host tryouts for their 18-U and 16-U teams on Oct. 11 and 12 at Illinois Central College in East Peoria.

The Outlaws are a summer select team. In 2008, the two teams combined to go 48-19 overall -- a .716 winning percentage. Perhaps even more importantly, Outlaw players played in front of scouts from more than 50 Division I schools, 12 MLB teams and a large number of junior college, Division II and Division III schools. The Outlaws remain committed to putting the best players from Central Illinois in front of as many coaches and scouts as possible.

The 2008 squads featured players from a wide variety of Central Illinois schools, including Illinois Valley Central, Olympia, Putnam County, Macomb, Stewardson-Strasburg, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, Bartonville Limestone and Brimfield/Elmwood.

For more information or to pre-register for the tryout, contact 18-U coach Ben Diggle at (309) 648-6709 or BDiggle74@yahoo.com or 16-U coach Brett Kelley at (309) 678-1463 or bkelley@icc.edu Or, you can visit www.htosports.com/cioutlaws

We are pretty much as far west as it goes. Legion ball is still big on that side of the state. Moline, Quincy, Rock Island and Galesburg all have big Legion programs.
I've fielded calls from some Hitmen parents who would like to continue playing travel ball as opposed to Legion ball.
Send them my contact info. More than happy to point them in the right direction.
