Congrats to the pitcher, he was "on" today against a tough Gator lineup. There is nothing better than David beating Goliath.

However, early in the season, will a 158 pitch count be worth it? If CSU continues to win, it will if they end up with another losing season it wasn't.

Don't think my above comments are Gator biased, tomorrow I am rooting against them. Wink
Tyler Thornburg is a fine two-way player who will get his chance at the next level some day imho.

College baseball is unique among the college sports. All it takes is for one guy to be hot on a given day and just about anybody can beat anybody. Can anyone imagine Charleston Southern beating Florida in football or basketball? In fact, I believe they met on the football field this year and Florida beat them 70-0 or something like that.
Tonight, our thoughts and prayers are with former Alonso pitcher Tommy Toledo, who’s now with the Florida Gators. Toledo, the Gators’ starting pitcher Sunday against Charleston Southern, was hit in the face by a line drive during the game. It was not immediately known how serious the injury is, but the Gainesville Sun reported that after spending time on the ground Toledo was taken to a local hospital. “Following the game, coach Kevin O'Sullivan said he didn't have an immediate update on the sophomore right-hander's condition,” according to the Sun. Hopefully, more will be known of Toledo’s condition Monday
I saw Thornburg pitch in the Cape last summer. He looked like a high velocity, high effort kid. The night I saw him, it was dusk, without lights and he was 97 for an inning.
But, I would bet some GM's are cringing when they see these numbers, especially if they continue for the rest of the season.
I sure hope the Florida pitcher is okay.
This thread and the contrast in the result for each pitcher, for me at least, illustrates how much luck still plays a role, even for those with the best of talent.

Hopefully, he is ok. He missed his sophmore year (2009) year after shoulder surgery. He was a 3rd rounder out of HS.
