A solid program at an up-and-coming school. Coach Hibbs and his staff always seem to have a competitive team in a challenging area of the country in which to compete for recruits and play. Their roster is usually a mix of home-grown talent with a slightly-higher-than-average proportion of out-of-state players for a North Carolina university system school.
As you're probably aware, the baseball team plays in a nice, new stadium; one that seats approximately 3,000 fans. The team's toughest competition probably comes from their out-of-conference schedule, as they seem to dominate their conference, the Atlantic 10.
Although I never met Coach Hibbs, Coach Hall recruited my son; and, we liked him very much. He seemed like a "player's coach," and he had a reputation for being a good pitching coach. Unfortunately, that's about all I feel qualified to say about the coaches.
Historically, the university has had a reputation of being a commuter school; catering principally to students from the area. Gradually, though, I sense that that's changing as more and more students live on or near campus. No doubt, the advent of football in the near future will further that trend.
Best of luck to your son!
