Great Site - Here is some info from the scouting world - People are asking who is being charted. Here is a brief look at a list and the info I have on the next crop. With most big 08's signed or soon to be signed like Downers South's Culver, Schaumburg's D'Agatta, Neal at New Trier, Mt. C's Vlamis etc., here is the 09's and some of the colleges charting: Catholic League star Angelo Burrage St. Rita one of the best lefty bats around - drawing interest from many Midwest schools including Illinois-Cham, LSU is also on the hot list. Justin Ringo Stagg Homerun stats this season has got him on everyones radar including LSU and Illinois. Matt Mistrada Schaumburg C/3B stock is rising fast with big breakout year, generating big Midwest interest. Tim Drish OF, Jordan Coffey P/OF and Brian Krolikowski P/1B at Batavia, Coffey also getting D1 interest in Football. Illinois, Arizona. Jack Havey P/1B Loyola projects as a pitcher with Stanford and Northwestern looking hard. East Sub Cath guys drawing big interest A.J. Plese P/1B Joliet Catholic getting looks from Notre Dame & Illinois and most Midwest schools, Ryan Pacyga P/1B having big year at Nazareth drawing looks from Creighton & Stanford, Mike Kane DH/1B Notre Dame High drawing interest from LSU & several Midwest schools. Chris Savas 3B/OF Willowbrook had quite a Soph Year still generating interest from Illinois, & Big Ten schools. Zach Hirsch St. Charles North projects as pitcher getting looks from all over the country. Freshman Tim Barry from Oak Forest's Big Bopper can thump with this list. Send me a private message if you wish to get any others on the radar screen.

How do they demonstrate this interest? My kid gets a lot of letters, but they can't officially talk to you until July 1.

I am not a scout, but my son has played with and against all those players since he was 12 years old. Everyone knows those kids are good. You don't need to be a scout to mention those names.

I guess I don't get the purpose of this thread.

You seem to know the most about Stanford, LSU and Illinois. Did you just sit next to those two coaches at an event?
Thanks for the heads up.

It reminds me of something.
Last summer we were going to play in a tournament vs the Indiana Breakers. As we walked up a game was under way. There was this lanky left hander throwing bb's. Obviously in the 90's. We then look over to the stands and see several scouts with guns on the kid. He was hitting 94 consistently.

Who needed a scout to tell that kid was good? He was throwing so much faster than what we normally see, anyone could tell the kid was going places. You could actually hear the difference from the backstop.

My point is, the scouts are needed for the borderline guys. The studs stand out. Perhaps some pro scouts need to evaluate how much a kid is worth compared to a different "can't miss" kid. But basically it is easy to tell the ones that have it, and the ones that don't. It's the borderline talent kids who are ball players that it takes skill to pick out.
