My son is playing at a D1 school. All through high school the guidance office knew that he would be looking at D1 and D2 schools. They assured him that all of his core courses were approved and that he was on track.

In Sept of his freshman year in college, we found out that one of his 1/2 credit English courses had not be submitted. The HS submitted it to the NCAA Clearinghouse. The course was turned down for having to much vocational subject matter.

After 1 month of not practicing, missing the fall baseball season, possible loss of Scholarship, lots of stress, the NCAA granted a waiver. He can now practice, compete, and got his scholarship back. However, it was still one month without working out with the team. It could have been worse if the NCAA had denied the waiver.

If we had looked closer at the NCAA Clearinghouse website during his junior year, then my son would have taken a different English course his senior year and been eligible and cleared right away.

On the NCAA Clearinghouse website search for your HS. Look at both the approved AND declined courses. Don't depend upon the guidance dept for this info. Make sure that your son is taking the right courses.
