Chicago Public League

As far as I know there are no changes in conferences and teams dont move up or down like hoops.

who are some other contenders for the super confrence any other good teams besides harlan clemente n lane????

It use to be the team from the next best conference who won it's division would move up, and the last place team(finishing at or near the bottom two years in a row) from the super conference would move down.
But the higher ups decided to turn the super conference into one big mess. They took away the great rivalry of Clemente playing Lane 2x, Simeon vs Harlan 2x, Clemente vs. Simeon 2x, etc...

Can you imagine Naperville Central and Oak Park(with that intense rivalry) playing just one game? How about Sandburg playing Stagg just once? Having the student body all excited and pumped up to play against the OTHER team from across the way is part of what High School sports is all about.

To top it off they even switched some conference games to Saturday's. That is usually the day teams would go out to the burbs and play two against some of the better competition. With better facilities, that have fences in the outfield, well kept fileds, and even a pitchers mound.

Did not mean to ramble on about this but my fingers kept moving.

Ive been watching josh colon play shortstop this fall with the Norwood Blues and i must say he has some of the smoothest softest hands that ive seen in a long time .

I dont know about anybody else but Id rather play Lane and harlan twice instead of schurz and northside once apiece

y do u say that about northiside they got a very good team this year and will give some competiton n that confernce

Whitney Young will be there next year IMO. Let's not forget about them.

No disrespect to Northside Prep, but in the years they have been in that conference they have finished close to or at the bottom of the conference almost every year.

Taft isn't going to last much in the Super Conference, the only competition they faced during last years regular season was Northside and Lake View, the 20-0 start was blown up, the lost to Clemente 10-0 in the playoffs, Taft is not going to compete w/ teams like Clemente, Lane, WY, Von Stuben, let alone contend for City.

Thats what people said last year about Taft. How they should be ranked in the top 10 in the city and all that other stuff. i bet if clemente, lane, harlan,etc played schools like sullivan and roosevelt evry time they would be undefeated. Taft didnt play anybody and that hurt them when they had to face clemente in the playoffs.Let them beat somebody before you put them in a class with Lane, Clemente, Harlan

well that was last year you guys are talking about and you cant base your season on one game we played a bad game agaisnt clemente and it came at the worst time in the playoffs.....celmente only had like 2 earned runs that whole game, the game was full of errors....and yes you can say that about putting us up with lane, wy, clemente, and von. well jus have to prove ourselves this year. but i think we have a good eneough team compete in the super conference if we are even in the super confernce this year

Taft could have played their best game and it would have been the same result. Taft just prove yourself by beating someone worth talking about

i play for taft n i agree with u about what teams cubbumm said we beat, there is nothing spectacular about beating those teams, like i said before we have to prove ourseleves this season

im not saying those other teams are spectacular but WildCats is gettin off saying we played teams equivalent to St. Marys for the Blind.

ive heard from some other players from different teams that they ahve there schudule and they have the conference games schulduled does neone know who moved outta the super conference

I saw i think it was the 2nd post on this Chicago Public League Bullentin..and it had the "Top Players" in the City of Chicago...and i don't know what you guys are thinking about but theirs a big sleeper out their who plays for Steinmetz..i think he's their ShortStop..that boy has a WICKED stick..i saw him play...and if he doesnt get scouted this year thats going to be crazy..watch out ya'll....Steinmetz got a squad this year!

Ya he is a real good coach. Its great being able to be a player under a coach like him. Are you one of his former players?

His name is WILLIAM ALVAREZ. He's been doing his thang for Steinmetz since Freshmen Year, and i've seen him play most of his games.And i would have to admit that the top players are the ones that guy mentioned in the first page. Clemente's ShortStop is honestly a very good player and that's why he already signed to play at UIC. But dude from Steinmetz should get MAD recongnition this year and i'm guessing he will sign to a University this year also.

My son played for him on the Blues for 3 years and we have become good friends. He is a very good game coach and very dedicated to his players and the game itself.

ya i kno who Will is ill agree with you that he is a very very good player, but from what i hear he doesnt have the grades. If that is true about the gradees hopefully he gets em u[p because he can defiantly go far in baseball. do u play for the team by the way?

I think their were a few rumors about his grades. I know he struggled with his Alebra and Geometry, anything dealing with Math, but i know he's moved them up becuase he's always elgible every year to play and Steinmetz is getting fairly strict on GPA and letting kids play with messed up grades ya know? But naw i dont even play any sports because i'm to busy trying to keep MY grades up lol but i go to Chicago Academy and i live close by Steinmetz so when i get a chance i go and watch him play.
