Chico is a great place to go to school. I actually graduated from there. Lindsey Meggs is the head coach and has a quality program. Seems their team is always in the running to go to the World Series. Mike McCormick is the asst. and is very nice. My kids have attended camps there for several years and my dealings have always been positive. The community is awesome as is the campus itself. Lots of things for students to do (which can be a double-edged sword). The ball field is great. It is used by the local Outlaws team, which I think is college wood bat league but, I'm not sure. It was built about 6 years ago I think to accomodate a semi-pro team that is no longer there. We've gone to watch games and always had a great time and enjoyed the baseball. Quality program I think. I can tell you more about the community if you wish but that is all I know about the team itself.
Also am CSU,Chico alumni.

Good news: Would echo all the positives. Great college town. Extremely successful Program has been at or near the top of DII for years. Fun school. Always tell people you can definately get a great education there...if you want to.

Bad news: Be aware, My understanding from a variety of sources is that like many DII programs wins predominatly with JC transfers. This can leave little playing time for underclassmen. Great option for JC transfers. Do your homework and ask questions if you are a freshman, or a freshman walk on. It is what I would want to know.
Two local HS players went up there in the last couple of years. Both were "encouraged" during fall practice to enroll at Butte Junior college and then transfer back after they had been there a couple of years.

Looking at their roster on line, it does appear to be well populated with CC transfers. More freshman on the 2010 roster than sophomores so perhaps they are changing.
