I can provide my list to those interested!...lol..Smile

Send me the list Steve...I've got a lucky lottery ticket for tonight, and maybe, just maybe, my numbers will come up...

And enjoy this Christmas Steve, because next year, those twins of yours will get ALL of the attention and presents! I imagine by then, the both of them will already have everything they will ever need for baseball/softball. Wink
I’m with hokieone on this.. When they go off to college they want things that relates to the college baseball way of life. What I mean by that is the MP3 player, the portable DVD player for out of town trips and a SUV (dream on) to haul it around in. They also want the playstation and a variety of games for when all the boys “relax” at the apartment or dorm room. I asked son tonight what he wanted for Christmas and he said a new playstation. Seems as if his playstation is 3 years old and is giving him problems..
While he was in high school it used to be baseballs, bats, gloves, soft toss machine, nets and different training aids but once they get to college they have all those things provided.

fungo...I think my 16 year is advanced for his age because he wants all those same things that your college aged son wants....

Hokie and fungo,

Whats a IPOD and a MP3 ? I need to get out more.

I don't want to ask my 17 year old, I am sure he would know, but I don't want him to know that I don't know Smile

IPOD's and MP3 players are new little techno gadgets that you download music onto...think of it as a cd player without the cd's...the music is stored in the player's memory. At least that's what I think they are...
These are digital music players that you can carry in your shirt pocket. They store up to 10,000 songs. You download the songs from your computer to your Ipod (Apple brand I think) or MP3 player. I think they are basically the same. While they are very small, they sound great.
The top-of-the-line iPod, holding 10,000 songs (40 gigs, as geeks will tell you), now costs $399. The lower-capacity model, with room for 5,000 songs (20 gigs), costs $299.
Sounds like a great Christmas present.
My 08 will get a new set of catchers gear, the same thing he asks for every Christmas. My 05 a Warrior Bat and some batting gloves. I never complain about buying my kids baseball gear. In fact I love to do it. I cant think about how its going to feel one day when they dont want or need it anymore. Kind of like when you go into the store and you look at the gumball machines. I remember them going crazy for one of those big jawbreaker pieces of gum. Sometimes I wish they were back at that age so I could buy them one. It goes by too fast. So I spoil the Hell out of them while I can.
Nancy,
I was just joking about MY list. Unless your lottery ticket pays off...then I will have to come up w/ a whole new list just for you. Wink

"Enjoy this Christmas because next year your twins will get all the attention and presents."

I'm sure that you are right on this one. I can't wait until they are born. This Christmas I feel lucky enough that my wife and I are blessed with having 1 baby, let alone twins. I feel even luckier that we are having a boy AND a girl. So I don't need anything else this year. Just that they will be born healthy. Christmas is my favorite time of the year so next year will be awesome with 2 little 10 month old babies. Is it too early to ask what is a good christmas present for them next year? ..ha ha ha

I know that it is early, but let me send out the FIRST "Christmas Greeting to all the HSBW'ers out there."
Already the MP3 is old school. Get with the times the kids now want an MP4 which is the latest as it has a digital screen to play the vidio with the music. A few bucks more but that is the rage up here at the momnent. Also the new play station at $149.99. Same games only a thinner cooler looking unit.
And to think we used to ask for "Peace on Earth" back in the 60's.
Steve
Fungo,
don't let him throw that playstation2 away! My sons was acting up and he looked on techTV on how to fix it. That did the trick for awhile, then it was back to "not reading the disk" or "disk read error" he called sony, got a return #, mailed it to them, they fixed it free! Yes it had been opened, yes it was over 3 years old. Only cost was mailing it to them. Has to be the disk error for them to fix free.

In the meantime he got a Xbox. He recently bought a mod chip on the net, I bought him a 160G HD for Xmas..ok so he got it early, again to TechTV watched the video, installed the chip, the HD, softwear, and then began "borrowing" games from his buds, and installed about 40 things so far, some Xbox, playstation, some PC, some movies... no more disks to worry about, and can do so much more. Downside to this is not being able to play online on Xbox live. Can't tell what else we are getting him for xmas... he reads this site!

One of our units was doing the same thing. If you do a web search on playstation errors, you can find a site that will give you the directions for a possible fix. Ours was as simple as cleaning the lens.
I recomend this site:
TechTV read error fix

You could also have him try this, and it has a message board Playstation repair

As I said, we did fix ours, but only for awhile, then it started again, so he sent it off. They put in a new Optical KHS, new tray assembly and even put on a new void tape. I don't think he told them on the phone that we had fixed it ourselves, wrote exactly what the guy told him to with the return #. It took about 4 weeks to get it back.

For those of you that are not having problems, you should still read through the first site as it gives other tips, such as NOT to stand the unit upright, as that is now believed to be part of the problem!
For you that have sons at the higher level and do a lot of bus travel what about:

the new Delphi MYFi Satelite FM Radio that you can play in your car or take it out and use it with earphones very mobile (duel function). After the initial cost of the unit I think the monthly fee is under $10 for the satelite radio service, I believe this system is coming out next week.

There is also that Nintendo DSsystem:
Nintendo DS Hardware

It's a whole new world of gameplay with the Nintendo DS handheld video game system. The system includes unique features, including built-in wireless communication, dual screens, dual game slots and touch screen capabilities. Sounds like another good thing for long bus rides.

Mine is getting a new first basemen's mit and truck accessories since he is now driving and over here in our neck of the woods a baseball player and an F150 go hand in hand.

And to think we come here to read about baseball!!

Thanks for the tips on getting the PS2 repaired!

My son hooked his original PS back up just to have games to play when he got the disk read errors on his PS2.
I have enjoyed looking at some of those old games remembering how COOL we thought the graphics were. Technology has definitely moved on.

I shudder to think how ancient I would feel watching the old Atari games now!!!
(We actually still have that old unit, too. Roll Eyes)

We have both Christmas and birthday gifts hidden away at our house. The only gift he has asked for is multi-colored thin thermal shirts. This will be the last year Santa Claus leaves a gift. Three days later he'll be 18 and all grown up.
(insert long sigh here......)
