My son played for CNU several years ago. It's a great school and a beautiful campus. I don't recall anyone ever walking on and making the team unless it was on a temporary basis in the fall.
My son's freshman year, there were about 16 other freshman who entered that same year. By the time he reached his senior year, I believe there were only 7 or so of those boys who were still on the team. He loved his playing time there.
CNU has gotten more difficult to get into over the last years and therefore some kids who would like an opportunity to play at CNU cannot get in. They play in the USA South conference which consists of only private schools in Virginia and North Carolina. It is a fairly competitive conference which CNU came out on top this year. If you are interested in playing there, you should contact Harvell to see if your position is currently being recruited. Good Luck.
JT, baseball game,
Yeah it's taking a little getting used to...after being there for 9 years of recruiting and talking about VJC it's taking sometime to get used to the Stevenson, but we new it was coming...Of course athletically our school has adopted the "there's a new SU in town" (a play on Salisbury who is in our conference) Which is kinda fun...I'm not sure about my screen name though...I've built sort of a rep :-) a good one I think...
Feel free to PM me with questions; I have a son playing for CNU now and one who just graduated after playing there. Great facilities, wonderful program, wonderful school. Some of the coaches when recruiting refer to having "DI facilities at a D III school", and the baseball program fits that.
The USA South Conference is very competitive every year, lots of good baseball played.

They do not over-recruit; walk-ons occasionally make it, but as best I can recall, only 2 total during the past three seasons. Recruited players don't go through tryouts. Players are treated very well. Nice campus, good academics, athletes are well-supported, admission gets tougher every year.
