I know many of us were at games today, anyone care to share what they saw?
Timberland 4 Salem 1
Crafty junior Matt Faia out dualed hard throwing lefty Nick Poore advance to the second round.
Up 3-0 in the fifth Timberland squeezed in a 4th run to take a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth Salem had a lead off single and looked like they had a chance to break through when an opposite field fly ball by Jordan Estevez was stolen away by an amazing catch from Timberlands Lucas Alper (jr.)
Salem would again threaten in the bottom of the 6th after a lead off single, Salem failed to advance the base runner. With two outs an attempted steal of second was cut down when junior catcher Matt Sheehan made a perfect throw down to catch the theif in the act.
Matt Faia would head into the bottom of the 7th looking for the CG SHO but Salem would rally getting the first two runners on before Salem's #6(?name) had an RBI single. That would be the end of Faia and junior PJ Singster would come in with two on to try and close the door. Singter would get a double play ball to the from the first batter which would not be converted only getting 1 out. With runners on first and third Salem's CJ Dimarco popped up in foul ground behind the plate. Just when it looked like it was out of play Sheehan made a great grab against the fence for the second out. With two outs, the game tying run was at the plate in Jordan Estevez.. Singster would record a weak dribbler back to the mound which he easily converted for the final out and a Timberland victory.
