Any thoughts or comments about Class M? I feel the number 2 seed Campbell is going all the way. Again this class has 4 of the top 5 teams. Franklin does have Sylvester who has a scholarship to Boston College in the fall, I have never seen him toss but hear that he is a fantastic pitcher.

I agree with Granite State and feel Campbell has a great shot at taking the whole thing. I am sure that Winnisquam will fall to Campbell. Cote went on Saturday against Hopkinton and threw over 100 pitches, the sophomore has had a long season. I expect Franklin to edge Berlin, but I expect a great game from these two. The Boys from Berin are real competitors and Franklin will have their hands full. In a head to head with Franklin (or Berlin) v. Campbell, Campbell will prevail. Just too solid at all postions, pitching and hitting. This team of former AAU Grizzlies will just be too tough.
McGloughlin is a solid number one pitcher for Campbell, I am pretty certain he will be able to guide Campbell into the championship game. Isn't Cullen Baker their number two? If that is the case he is a solid number two as a sophomore. He is a hard throwing right hander that knows how to pitch. Not only that but he is a gamer, he will be tough to beat in the championship game. If he is not their number two that means they have someone better than him, which means they are sitting really pretty for taking the Class M crown.
I think the bigger point is how many guys did he put on base that he had the opportunity to pick off 20 runners? Razz

In all seriousness I wish my lefty had a better move to first although it has improved a lot. He has probably picked off about a dozen or so this year. Now if his team could actually record the out after doing so..lol.
Redsox8191, I will tell you the job that McCormack and Loftus do with that program goes unrecognized. I really think they do a tremendous job, I remember when Rich started that program about 5 or 6 year ago, I don't think they were even called the Knights back then. Rich had a few kids that had some rough edges and instead of letting these kids fall through the cracks he gave them a uniform and put them on the diamond. He was able to get those kids to play great together. He does a great job out of the Nashua Baseball Academy, I would suggest to anyone in the greater Nashua area to give him and his program a look.
GSBA,

I couldn't agree more. We started there the winter entering his 12U season. My son was chosen to be a part of the NH Diamond Devils that play out in Cooperstown. Basically we rented out the Academy for the winter. Loftus often times was there to help out with the boys even though it at the time was not his program. With the use of his facility (he has a new larger facility (that will eventually have an outdoor proactice field) coming out in hollis for this winter btw..)and his help that group of boys finished 7th overall out in Cooperstown, quite an accomplishment for a team from NH...a small town team at that! After that season no one wanted to take over the Diamond Devils franchise so Rich took it over himself. In a way it is unofficial 12U program. The current 14U team has 8 kids off of that team. Duane Erickson also helps out with the Diamond Devils program.

I know that my son has become a better hitter and player from Rich's involvement with his development. My son is lucky in that he has coach Loftus and Erickson for Babe ruth as well. He certainly can not complain about having lousy coaches!!

The Knights program is excellent for 13U and 14U players who want to experience AAU ball while also getting to play Babe Ruth with their friends and to represent the city as a Babe ruth All-star. The program really is "family friendly" and "Babe Ruth friendly". The program should only get better with the new facility. Rich is a great guy and a very knowledgable one as well. McCormack does a great job dealing with all the adminstrative work that goes into running an AAU organization.
Winnisquam played Somersworth on Wednesday and fell 5-4 in a great battle. Lyford pitched and threw 7 innings giving up 5 ER. I'm not sure who started for Somersworth, however he was a very good sophmore Lefty. They threw 4 lefties at us. Cote tied it up with a 3-run homerun in the 5th but Somersworth stormed back with a pair in the top of the 7th to win... Teams to beat include Hopkinton, Berlin, Winnisquam, Campbell, and Somersworth.

Red raiders you are belmont right, when did you play somersworth I thought they only played Raymond and Winnisquam? Did Belmont play them in a regular season game? Parma is a hell of a player. Colbert is too, I have heard they have a solid catcher too not sure on his name.

Parma is our #1, Josh Jaques is our #2 and he is a sophmore, Colbert is the #3 and has looked very good, Strong switch hitting catcher is Brody Horning, he is raking at the plate so far, calls a great game. Run ruled Prospect Mountain today, colbert went the distance, 5 innings on only 51 pitches.
Farmington is 4 and 0, they play Somersworth on Friday, We should find out if they are for real or paper tigers, no pun intended. I know we will be starting a lefty pitcher, just don't know which one of the four. Parma sat out the Prospect game got in the dog house for throwing his batting helmit after striking out in practice. It's all about discipline.

DISCIPLINE = The ability to control your mind and body.

Coach Curt, does Jaques and Horning play a fall sport?

What was the final score tonight I want to put it up on the www.granitestatebaseball.org site.

Jaques plays S****R, Horning was on the varsity golf team and starts on the varsity basketball team. He is not going to Golf next year and wants to play on a Granite State Showcase team.
After Friday, Class M will be down to only three undefeated teams. Currently five teams in those ranks, Farmington, Hopkinton, Fall Mountain, Inter Lakes, and Somersworth. Fall Mountain and Hopkinton match up and Somersworth Farmington meet in Farmington. If Interlakes holds serve, we should have just three teams with a perfect record. Pretty amazing with it being this early in the season.
Hopkinton beat Fall Mtn today to improve to 3-0 on the year. Sophomores again came thru for the Hawks. Sam McManus had a great day at the plate going 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI. McManus also added 2 steals to his day. Sam Bonifant went the distance on the mound spreading 6 hits over 7 innings, striking out 7 while walking 2. He also drove in a run and scored a run going 2-3 with a walk. Matt McCormack, had the game winning 2 RBI double in the 4th innning.
Three unbeatens left, Hopkinton, Inter-lakes and Somersworth. Doesn't really mean much though, Campbell and Winnisquam are still very good teams. Based on strength of schedule I think Hopkinton and Inter-lakes will be top four teams and will be able to host first two rounds of the playoffs. Campbell, Farmington, Winnisquam, Berlin and Somersworth will have to fight for the remaining two spots.
Winnisquam was hammered by Mascoma on Friday night 17-7. Mascoma hit the ball hard and found every gap. WRHS had a 3-run homer by Kyle Pratt and a solo shot by Matt Descoteaux. WRHS rebounded nicely on Monday with a 6-3 win in Berlin and now sit at 4-2 in Class M. Jordan Cote had a solid outing on the mound pitching a complete game with 12 K's and 2 BB's. Kyle Pratt and Justin Keith lead the hitting attack, both going 2-4 at the plate.
Hopkinton improves to 5-0 with a 8-6 win over Hillsboro. Sophomore Sam McManus continues to see the ball going 3 for 3 in the game. Senior Evan Levy went 2-4 with a crushing HR. Sophomore Sam Bonifant went the full 7 innings for the win. The usually strong defense of Hopkinton yieled 4 errors that led to 5 unearned runs. Bonifant faced 33 batters, striking out 11 on 83 pitches. He finshed his day with a walk-off ground rule double to provide the margin of victory for the Hawks. Next game against a solid Mascenic team (3-2) on Monday in Cooperstown.

Thats correct Mike, but as we all know stats can be very miss leading. Not to be demeaning to the other teams or our pitchers, but both games were against weak hitting teams. I would like to mention that raymond improved allot at the plate from the first time we met them. They are very young, but will be very good in a couple of years.
Somersworth played Prospect Mountain at Nivers fiels in Somersworth, it's allways fun to watch Dave Hoyt line the field, Ha Ha DJ Colbert had another fine outing, giving up 3 runs, while scatting 8 hits, with no walks and striking out three. Propspect Mountain was much inproved from the last time we faced them. No errors like last time, the were very good defensively tonight. Dave Parma came in to get the save in the 7th.
Hopkinton returns from Cooperstown undefeated tonight after defeating Mascenic 3-1. The Hawk's McManus out dueled Mascenic's Salo. McManus gave up only one hit (an HR) while Salo spread three hits over 7 innings, but two errors by Mascenic allowed the Hawks to score three times. Both guys really did a great job on the mound. One of those games where both pitchers deserved the win. Next up for the Hawks on Wednesday, undefeated Sommersworth...should be fun.
