We installed clay bricks under our batters boxes and pitcher's mound. Should we allow the clay to dry out some before we cover it with a tarp?

Did you get them thru a baseball supplier? I have heard (but not tried them) you can get them from an artist/sculptor supplier for much much less money.
I don't think you should ever let them completly dry out. I would keem them damp by covering mound and batters box with a tarp when not in use, and sprinkle occasionally to keep them damp. Those are my thoughts.
