i have question about cleats vs. turf shoes on dirt. Is there much of a drop off in traction using turf shoes? My son decided to Incredible Hulk his 100$ five game old cleats and ripped an eyehole out. Now he's using his turf shoes. I'm just wondering if I am going to have to throw another 100 dollar bill on the fire. That is his baseball costs.

Get him some bargain cleats and teach that young ne'er do well a lesson.
Most turfs on most dirt won't cut it. If it's one eyehole, though, it may be something that a shoe repair place can tackle.
You're gonna need both. Human kidneys on the black market fetch about $225K, so you always have that going for you.
I had a catcher once who hated how cleats felt on his feet while catching. I let him try turfs for a few games and it was much more comfortable and never saw a drop off in any performance. But he also wasn't trying to spring to a ground ball to his left.
My catchers use turf cleats while catching but they slip their spikes on while hitting. I told them as long as I didn't see it being a factor behind the plate they could do it. And as long as they are the first ones out of the dugout to take the field. No drag butting around to change shoes!
