I doubt that I'll ever be completely at peace with the timing and the apparent handling of Coach Leggett's ouster. However, I feel the need to be equally honest about what I know of his successor.

My son played for Coach Monte Lee relatively early in Coach Lee's coaching career. At the time, he was an assistant at Spartanburg Methodist; and, during the summer, he was the Head Coach of the Diamond Devils' 17-U team. It was with the Diamond Devils that my son played for him.

Based on that experience, I consider Coach Lee a gifted coach; someone who had clearly "found his calling." He's the sort of coach that inspires intense loyalty among his players; the sort that they'll "walk through walls for."

Over the course of his baseball playing career, my son had the good fortune of playing for a number of exceptional coaches. He considers Coach Lee among the very best he had at any time.

I heard two outstanding interviews with Coach Lee on Jack Warren's Top Coach Podcast and immediately, Charleston went to the top of my list of places to have my son research.

At the time, I had very little knowledge about their record, their facilities, or the University's other strengths, but that guy really impressed me.

I know it's premature to talk about Coach Lee being "the guy" for Clemson... but just give these interviews a listen when you can.

Yes, it's nice to want son to play for great coaches ,but school fit academically is just as important. Coaches can change without warning, it's part of the business of sports.
