Great game! Been Clemson fans for a long time..
That was a great game, we were pulling for Clemson for no other reason than it was time for them, not Alabama!
Next year my Trojans should be in the mix!
If you like college football a Clemson home game should be on your list. It's one of the places where the crowd is insane. But their entrance is unique.
Nothing like a Clemson home game! BTW, any trivia buff know why its called Death Valley?

My personal MVP of the game was Hunter Renfrow. 2 TDs, 10 receptions including multiple big 3rd down catches and stopped a fumble recovery from scoring - that saved the team 4 points. He was originally a walk on that everyone said was too small. Kid had a fantastic game and I don't even remember him being interviewed after the game. But then, I have a personal preference for small white guys playing big time football - or baseball for that matter.
I agree with you, but Watson got the offensive MVP. Sometimes people dont get the credit they deserve, as Watson was passed up twice for Heisman. His best #s come after the regular season ends.
Renfrow is on the cover of jan 16 SI. I think he got the recognition he deserves.
Not putting down Watson's performance at all. He's a heck of an athlete. Unfortunately for Clemson, he just announced he's foregoing his senior year to enter the NFL draft.
Williams is leaving too, not unexpected, thats why they had to get it done. Understand they probably have a lot more soldiers ready to role.
Watson was definitely the MVP...especially after getting pummeled in the first half.
He graduated in three years and it's been know for a while that Williams (from my home town), Gallman and Watson would enter the draft.

I don't think so -- in fact, he entered Alabama a semester early, so he had a semester under his belt before starting this fall.
IMHO, Watson was the only NFL-caliber QB amongst the Final Four teams. And he has all the intangibles as well.
Watch out for USC and Penn State next year -- both were Top 10 teams this year, and they have a ton of starters returning (unlike, say, Michigan).
The Heisman is obsolete and the entire voting process is a sham.

Agreed! Watson should have definitely won it the previous year. Had better numbers than Tebow and Manziel and finished third.

A couple closing thoughts about the 2016-17 college football season.....
1) ACC football made a huge rebound in 2016-17. Once a laughingstock, it is now a very respectable conference based on their head to head bowl results. I'm not sure what happened to the Big 10 and SEC conferences this year, but I'm sure they will be back. I think there is more depth in the ACC than there has been in a real long time.
2) It pains me to see juniors (and underclassmen) declare for the NFL draft when they clearly are not ready.
3) I like the way the NCAA handled the "targeting" calls this year...and I like the rule. The NFL should put on their big boy pants and learn a thing or two from the college officials about targeting rather than swallowing their whistles.
4) I'm not a huge Dabo Swinney or Clemson fan, but I really liked the way Swinney handled and stood up for Watson with regards to the Heisman.... "DeShaun didn't lose out on the Heisman, they lost out on him.......etc". I can respect a Coach that stands up for his guy in that manner especially when it is true. Love it. Deshaun Watson is an impressive QB, leader and young man.
5) For me, college football is still so much more exciting than the NFL. My middle son agrees. He went to the "Battle at Bristol" (Tennessee vs Virginia Tech), the ACC championship (Clemson vs Virginia Tech) and the Belk Bowl (Arkansas vs Virginia Tech) in his senior year at VT. He had a blast. Funny thing is that he ran into his future boss at each one of these events, and tossed down a few cold ones.

A random note for the Clemson folks... a total solar eclipse is going to make its way across the continental USA on August 21, 2017. The sun should be almost entirely blocked by the moon for about 2-1/2 minutes while over Clemson at 2:38pm EDT. Should be pretty spectacular.

I read the other day that it snowed in Clemson right before they won the first championship, like it did last week.

I agree with you that it depends on where you come from. In a state that has no professional sports, college sports rules. One of the reasons why Clemson fans are nuts about their sports teams. One of the reasons why son attended and played baseball. Fans always in the seats.

The concept is right. The problem is I saw too many times the player with the ball ducked after the tackler was committed. The tackler accidentally hit the ball carrier in the head and got ejected.
It was definitely one of the all time great post season college games. I know this because Mrs. G came into the family room wanting to watch some Sherlock or something, sat down, and saw that the 4th quarter had just started. She watched the entire quarter without once asking when the game would be over, why it was taking so long, and did I really have to see it to the end. First time that's ever happened, and probably the last.
College football rules the South. I am an NFL guy and a Cowboys fan, which is a good thing this year. Clemson does have solid crowds every game and huge family turnout. Lots of young kids and older folks as well. I'm sure there will be a few more this year since the ACC championship last season. Can't wait for Wright State!
