havent had a chance to actually see it, but if the ball hit foul then came into the infield prior to passing a bag....then its a fair ball....

Its where the ball ends up....not always where it hit first....

I looked at the video from both angles. Yeah, his foot was out of the box; behind the plate actually. Call should have been ball dead, batter out and runner(s) return.
I will add this though; in a MLB game you virtually never see it called and the defense never complains.

And, 90% of the time, if an umpire is doing his job right, he won't see the foot out of the box in this situation.
I would humbly suggest that if a Red Sox coach had seen the foot out of the box, they might've made at least a mild complaint.

Being 0-6 and everyone's favorite to win the AL East with a "Wicked Good Line-up" and not scoring any runs as they are. I would've thought somebody would've had some negative emotion to work off...

Just me.

Regarding the foot being out of the box, I believe that the entire foot must be out of the box. Is that correct? So he could have his foot 99% out of the box, but that 1% touching a white line would save him (although I know that at this point in the game the actual lines were long gone).

Correct.

Your percentages are correct and as we all know the back lines of an mlb batters box are long gone probably after the first six batters so you can't imagine where the line is supposed to be. You have to call what you see. Wihtout a clear line how can you call the foot completely out of the batters box when the foot has to be 100% out of the box at contact?

I doubt that is on the current list of reviewable plays.

Sorry guys, I was thinking more that someone in the Red Sox org would see it in the press box, big screen or dugout monitor right away and manager would ask HP ump for help from another umpire, not a replay review. Don't know if this ever happens.

Anyway, we probably beat this one to death, so thanks for the replies.
