Did anyone watch Clubhouse on CBS last night?
What did you think?

It was the pilot episode and the show will normally air on Tuesday nights starting tomorrow. I had the opportunity to help out with getting the show going back in February. I knew that the show was going to get picked up due to the names behind it....Mel Gibson, Aaron Spelling, Dean Cain, Christopher Lloyd, etc. I was a player (#43) on the NY Empires on last night's episode. I was not able to watch it as I was on a plane flying home from our PG Northwest Top Prospect Showcase. I had someone tape it and will watch it sometime this week. I have the opportunity to do additional episodes however due to my busy work schedule I do not have the free time right now. Anyway, I just wanted to know who saw the show and what they thought.

The Show is on again tonight. I still haven't had the chance to watch the episode from Sunday yet. Feedback from my family is that it is more of a drama then they were expecting.

When we were doing the filming several months ago I knew that it wasn't going to be a baseball only TV Show. Rather it would focus in on Jeremy's character. Baseball would be a piece of that puzzle. I do know that the show seems to have a great foundation, but you never know how the end product will turn out.

I wish I had the time to do future episodes, but right now my schedule doesn't allow it. I will say that doing TV Shows and movies isn't that exciting. There is a lot of down time. Those of you that have had the opportunity to do commercials, movies, TV Shows, etc know what I'm talking about.

I look forward to watching tonight's episode. Those that watch it, post your thoughts here.

Some of the situations and characters were taken to an extreme but that is probably necessary to be entertaining. Next episode is a corked bat. At some point we'll probably see a chair thrown into the stands or perhaps we'll see a batboy, instead of a basecoach, attacked by drunken fans. Should be interesting. It was nice to see ballplayers that mostly looked like ballplayers out there. Too many times you get actors trying to look like ballplayers and failing miserably.
To give you some background, the show Clubhouse is based on a book that was written by a guy that was a batboy for the NY Yankees in that late 80's. I believe that book will be out this year. Anyway, the series will contain situations that actually happened. The 1st season will contain 13 episodes. If the show is a hit then I'm sure that future episodes and/or seasons will deal with current situations i.e. players throwing chairs in the stands.

Together we could come up with several situations to be used in the show if we wanted to.
STRIPES ARE OUT ON 'CLUBHOUSE'

August 4, 2004 -- HOW powerful are the Yankees? They can even make pinstriped uniforms disappear off TV.
When CBS filmed its new fall show, "Clubhouse," a team curiously called the New York Empires wore pinstriped uniforms. It sounds kind of familiar, right?

"They looked exactly like the Yankees, even the New York logo," CBS boss Les Moonves told The Post yesterday.

With no control over the content of the show, the Yankees requested that CBS eliminate the pinstripes. With the possibility of legal trouble looming, CBS relented and electronically removed all the pinstripes.

"They wanted to know what the stories were going to be about, and we didn't want to involve them," said Moonves, who added that talks were cordial. "For instance, the pilot story is about how one of the players gets in trouble because he was on steroids."

Needless to say, the Yankees didn't want to be associated with such potential controversial storylines.

"Brian Cashman [Yanks GM], we spoke to him, and he was terrific. There was no hassle," Moonves said.

Ratings News

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From thefutoncritic.com:

"Clubhouse" (households: 6.1/10, #8; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T12)

"Viewers should take note that "Clubhouse's" 1.9 rating in the key demographic came in last in the 8:00/7:00c hour."

Though the 18-49 demo numbers are horribly low, the overall rating isn't that bad. Plus, the low score was to be expected, as CBS is commonly the network with the oldest viewers and Clubhouse is aimed at a bit of a younger audience. But even so, the numbers need to move up, or the Clubhouse may be shutting down...
Clubhouse is a drama about a 16-year-old boy who becomes a man in a world of overgrown boys when he takes a job as a batboy for a professional baseball team.

For the first time, Pete Young (Jeremy Sumpter) takes a risk – perhaps the only risk of his young life - when he applies for and lands his dream job as a batboy for the New York Empires. The problem is his single mom, Lynne (Mare Winningham, "The Brotherhood of Poland, N.H."), has no idea what he's up to. Until now, he's been the golden boy while his rebellious older sister, Betsy (Kirsten Storms), has always been in the doghouse.

On the job, Pete becomes a part of a new family that includes Conrad Dean (Dean Cain, "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman"), the team's captain and star third baseman and one of the boy's all-time idols who takes on the role of an older brother. Also, in the clubhouse is his boss, Lou Russo (Christopher Lloyd), a gruff but fair equipment manager who becomes a much-needed father figure; Rich (Marc Donato), a fellow batboy who just happens to be the general manager's nephew; Carlos Tavares (John Ortiz, "Lush Life", "The Job"), a rookie who believes that Pete is his good luck charm, and Jose Marquez (J.D. Pardo), the Empire's territorial head batboy.

Pete is over the moon at being a member of his favorite team, but he must still balance life at home and life in the big leagues as he faces the moral dilemmas and curve balls that life throws his way.

What time does it air on the East Coast? It airs on Tuesday Nights at 9 PM here on the West Coast.

On Clubhouse the team is The New York Empires(aka NY Yankees). On the pilot episode the team we were playing was the Boston Liberty (aka Red Sox). Last night didn't show any game action shots, just BP and locker room shots. The visiting team again was Boston. I wonder if all the games will be NY vs Boston?? Maybe Red Sox fans should watch Clubhouse as Boston has a better chance to beat NY on the TV Show then they do in real life.
Deleted all the channels from my TV menu that deal in nothing but pap and cr*ap...ie., NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, MTV, VH1, etc.

When we do watch TV it's usually a CD movie, but do watch channels like C-SPAN, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, AMC, TMC, THC, FOX Fanily, etc.

Usually there's nothing but garbage on TV most of the time.

Watched the BB games, got the reruns of the debates...boring reruns of the same garbage the DNC puts out with all their talking heads, don't know why everyone is getting so excited about some bozo rethread like Kerry still slinging the same thing that Demos have been saying for the last 60 years...makes me laugh.

Between the Repub Congress and USSC Court Kerry's socialist agenda is DOA...even if he wins
