Over the course of my high school season and into the summer season I had been in heavy communication with a coach of a top 25 D3 in my area, he had me texting him how my outings went and my schedule with all the events I was attending. Communication stayed strong through hs season and the start of this summer season, hes seen me play in two real games and then in two events (I did very well in the first one striking out four of six faced but not so great in my bullpen the second time) and since those events he has stopped responding to my updates and hasn't mentioned the visit he planned to have me take. Does this mean he is just busy or that he is no longer interested and should just move on? Any feedback is appreciated!

No need to burn any bridges. I would not move on butbwould still consider other schools. He may resume contact in the fall. He is probably traveling alot right now. Visiting a campus right now is usually not a good idea. It would be difficult to judge the campus experience. In the fall students will be on campus and you may be able to do an overnight.

But do not put all your eggs in this blanket. Keep your options open, and keep looking. Have you reached out to other schools?

Recruiting for D3 will pick up in the fall when coaches stop traveling and are back on campus. Some D3's are in contact right now, but as of 5 years ago, my sons recruiting did not really pick up until August/September of his senior year. Schools that had never shown an interest came out of the woodwork.

So don't worry, stay in contact, but keep looking.

Yes I have been in contact with other schools but this particular school has shown me the most love throughout my seasons so I just panicked a bit

This is excellent advise.  I also echo in that D3 will pick up in the fall.  Don't be discouraged.

All but one of the 13 players who are on my 2016's recruit email/text list for his D3 school were finalized in the fall after his school hosted several of them at overnight visits in Sept and held their recruiting camp (also in Sept).  All of the D3 players my 2016 knows personally from our area finalized everything in Sept/Oct and then applied early decision in Nov.  So while it's not great that this school has gone silent I wouldn't take it as a sign that the opportunity is completely closed there - but would make sure to add additional schools to your list to keep options open (as stated by many already on the thread).

Agree with BLD's excellent advice.  I think what you are experiencing is a very  normal recruiting experience.   Coaches get busy, and then all of the sudden they'll be in touch like nothing happened over a month long communication gap......at least that was our experience.   We found it extremely timely that once other schools were showing interest or made offers all the sudden we'd hear back from these long, lost coaches.  My observation is that coaches don't do things just for the sake of doing things.  You have to give them a reason.  So, give them a reason.

The most important thing you can do is continue to reach out to other schools that interest you.  One of my favorite sayings on this site is that the "coaches timetable may not be the same as your timetable".   Next time you talk to him or trade emails with him ask him (or any coach) what their timetable is to have their recruits at your position, and how does their Admissions and Finanicial Aid process work.

As always, JMO.

Every DIII can be a little different. Some coaches are more aggressively recruiting than others since May or June at tournaments. Son was not on his school's radar until a school prospect camp in early August and then seen pitch in a game shortly after in early August. I've seen DIII coaches come down to Perfect Game in early July, other probably don't have in their budget.

DIII recruiting can easily extend into next year for some players.

I am glad to hear. In cases like this it is best to be patient and keep grinding. Some players in your situation may try to over communicate to get the coaches attention again. The coach may think "what do I have to do. I already let hom know Iwas interested. " It can be afine line. As aplayer no one should come off as needy or high maintenance. I know one D3 recruiter who took a talented kid off his list, because he was contantly calling and asking when he was comming out to his game. The coach told me if he acts this way now how will he be when he has to compete for playing time.

It can be difficult,  but the only thing that can make a coach love you again is performing on the field.
