In the past year of being the Mountain View Junior College Recruiting Coordinator, I have observed that there are only two types of player development offered by select organizations in the DFW area…. (1) game type situations and (2) expensive private lessons. What about team practices? Everyone in America is practicing one hour at school and having one double header one day of the week. What is your son doing extra?

I am offering 2 hour practices on select Sundays in the fall. I will be running the practices and they will mimic a college style practice. You will only be required to pay for the practices your son attends. Payment will be made prior to each practice.

Price: $20 per hour

Coach: Logan Harrington (Current Mountain View Junior College Coach)

Location: Mountain View Junior College
4849 West Illinois Avenue

October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th
November 7th , 21st
(All Sundays 2pm to 4pm)

Sounds good. For the record, the Texas Dukes have always held weekly practices and workouts because their mission is to teach and play baseball with a purpose and that purpose has always been and will continue to be "to develop players." You cannot develop players just by playing games. An awesome coach once said, there are a lot of awesome players, and frankly those boys could be coached by someone's grandmother. It takes a real coach to spend time TEACHING the finer points of the game of baseball.
Thanks Rabe62.

I am not trying to knock other organizations program. They are giving the parents/players what they want.... college exposure through a ton of games.

I just feel that everyone is putting the cart before the horse. I feel you have to give the parents/players what they need compaired to what they want. That being more development and which has to take time away from the high and mighty "college coach exposure". Everyone wants to be in front as many college coaches as possible.... but my opinion is that if you are not good enough for College (A), then you are not good enough for College (B).

Ofcourse the battle of development combaired to exposure changes with the age of the team. Freshman through Junior teams are mainly about development, Senior teams are geared more to exposure.
Below is the information about our practices for this fall. All practices will be at Mountain View College. Instead of having two separate practices, (1) for non-dallas spikes players and (2) for dallas spikes players.... I have decided to combine the two. We will not have more than 30 players at any given time and that is a perfect number for the types of practices I run.

Practice Schedule:

September 12- Practice 4pm to 8pm
September 19- Practice 4pm to 8pm
October 10- Practice 4pm to 8pm
October 17- Practice 10am to 1pm
October 24- Practice 4pm to 8pm
November 21 - Practice 4pm to 8pm
