2016 is taking classes that some colleges will take as college credit.  They call them dual enrollment , AP classes.

After this semester he will have 15 hours.  If he continues on this path can/will this affect his baseball eligibility?

currectly has 33 ACT and 4.2 GPA , has not taken SAT yet.

bacdorslider,

Ditto.  It doesn't affect college eligibility.

We found that dual enrollment classes were great for state schools as you can rollover a bunch of credits and get college experience while in high school.  It can give your son some future flexibility too.

AP classes can be a way to academically separate your son with very competitive college admissions schools.  In addition, if you got a 4 or 5 on the AP test you had the option of receiving college credit for the entry level class (depending on the school) and starting with a more advanced level class.  My oldest son (private college) was not able to roll over his 15 dual enrollment credits but he had the option of rolling his AP credits.  My middle son (state univ.) rolled both his dual enrollment and AP credits.

 Fenway,

thank you for the info, very helpful... Now I know what my son was tlaking about when he was referring to making a 4 or 5 on the AP test.

He is smarter than I am

He is "looking" at schools like Williams, Amhurst etc.. Fully understands he is not D1 talent and really does not want to attend most D1's ... But D3 yes ............ 6'3 200 RHP

Wow! He's in great shape for a entering junior!

If he is looking at selective colleges and universities, he should make sure that his desired schools will accept dual credits. While many of the less selective state schools have articulation agreements with the providers of dual credit courses, several selective colleges restrict what they will accept. For example, Washington U (St. Louis) accepts up to 15 hours only of AP/college credit. And, it will accept only those credit hours that adhere to the following conditions: class must not have been on HS campus; class must have taught by college faculty; and class population must be a majority of college students.

See this link for a list (albeit dated) of colleges that restricts acceptance of dual credit classes:
