Wasn't sure where to post this since it may be different in High School?

Let's say you have a 2b as a starter, hitting leadoff, and he's got a good stick, but is having a bad day with the glove.

Your DH is hitting 6th in the order.

So, can you put in a better glove at 2nd, and he bats in the DH spot in the order?
Can the starting 2B then be the DH, as long as he keeps the same place in the order?

Or does the DH represent a spot in the order and can't be changed?

As a National League guy, I have never really understood how the rules work with the DH?

The college and HS DH rules differ greatly.

In HS, your DH can bat for any defensive player you like. In college, you can DH only for the pitcher, and what's more, the P and the DH can be the same guy, so that he can continue at DH even if you send in a reliever.

The answer to your specific question is no, at either level. The starting 2B has a slot in the batting order. He cannot replace the DH because the DH occupies a different slot in the order. No player can move from one slot to another in the course of a game.

Unfortunately we had an ump last year that didn't understand this rule, the ump required the relief pitcher to bat instead of the DH/Starting Pitcher.
