Would anyone know or can it be found out how many kids drafted out of college were not drafted when they graduated high school.
I know a kid can be drafted higher with 3 more years to grow and learn, but he was already very good and on the radar screen in high school. Do alot of kids get that much better that they went from undrafted to drafted. Thanks

It isn't always that they got that much better. Many times a player is not drafted because they want more money out of high school than the pros are willing to pay. Then when they finish their 3 or 4 years of college baseball they get drafted unless they are no longer prospects for some reason.

One of our local players was given an offer by a team that wanted to draft him in the 4th round and insisted on more. Other teams called in later rounds but wouldn't meet his price and he went to college and wasn't drafted out of HS.
My son was not drafted in HS because he gave all indication he would rather go to college. I do feel he could have been drafted out of HS but just recently drafted after 3 years of college.

Are there players who were undraftable (due to ability) in HS later get drafted in college, absolutely! But as any thing in life, it is not a guarantee that a player not drafted will be 3-4 years later. There are also lots of players who could have been drafted as top pics out of HS who become later draft picks in 3-4 years. But as far as I have seen, those extra college years have helped many players to grow and mature and develop better tools.
There will be kids who physically mature in college. They may have been perceived to be too small, too weak, or just under the line skills-wise. After growing, they're bigger, faster, stronger, more skilled, etc.. This can change pro scout's perspective of the player. These players players can be playing anywhere from D1 to D3. David Eckstein wasn't considered a prospect heading into college where he walked on. How about this guy? He was just drafted by the Twins.
