Mike,

It's both.

They want your money.

And, they are looking for recruits.

If you like a school, pay them the money to go to their camp.

If you are a position player, hit some out of the yard at the camp.

If you are a pitcher, strike a bunch out at the camp.

Then things will change.

They will be recruiting you, specifically.

And, they will be offering you a scholarship (money) to their school.

That's the way it works.

Some camps are more equal than others.

Some camps are run by local HS coaches with perhaps a grad asst. from the college making an occasional appearance. Don't expect too much from those. Others may actually have the college coaches around some.

Depends. Camps are a signficant fundraiser.

Check them out, use your common sense.
