Does anyone have any info on the College Of Charleston? My son (2018) received an invitation to their prospect camp.

Your son is in middle school? He was invited to help fund their spring trip. They probably got his info from some tournament his team attended.
Nice facilities for a smaller D1. Brett Gardner played there.
My son had the good fortune of playing for Head Coach Monte Lee during the summer between his junior and senior years in high school. At the time, Coach Lee was in the early stages of his coaching career. He was an assistant at Spartanburg Methodist and would soon become an assistant at South Carolina for Coach Ray Tanner.
He was an extraordinarily good coach; one of the best my sons has ever had (and he's had some great ones). The guy found his calling. At this point, he's a fixture on college baseball experts' annual lists of "Top 10 Young Head Coaches."
Others will know the school better. My sense from a distance is that it's a solid, small, public college in a scenic coastal city.
At this point, your son's principal interest in a camp such as this one would be developmental. He'd pick up some valuable information about his position, and he'd benefit from being around college coaches and players.
It would also give him a first-hand look at older players who have worked hard at the game and help him appreciate the fact that, ultimately, his competition comes not from his competitors locally; but from all over the country.
Best of luck to him!
(Edited to reflect BBALLFAN2012's catch. Thanks!)
My son was recruiting by Coach Lee. We loved the C of C, the coaching staff was sincere, genuine. Awesome school, location, program. It is a public school. One of the better academically SC public schools...
If your son is in 8th grade - I really doubt you are on any recruit list. (Unless he is a serious stud.) But going to C of C would be a great experience to get a jump start on checking out schools, seeing what it is like, etc.
And on the parent side - Charleston would be an exceptional city to be stuck at for a few days while your son attended camp!
2015 going to camp there is Dec. Believe info said they have cutoff number- 60 per camp. I've been to some with 125 plus players and IMO that's too many. With 20 kids per scrimmage team your son is lucky to get 2 at bats. Will post upon return and give my two cents. Area is beautiful. Also smaller Charleston Southern in area and they will be in attendance as well as 2 NC schools.
the college of knowledge attracts the hottest girls from the small towns throughout the SE. On the bb side they aren't too shabby either. This is a Fun with a capital F school. That may be a negative for some but thought you ought to know.

Thank you all for the advice and info. We won't be going to the camp, but it was nice seeing the email invite! His mom actually signed him up on a recruiting website called NCSA(?) that is how he got the invite (he is also14 yrs old). we are going to follow the recruiting timeline posted here, just going to let him enjoy his fall and winter and get ready for Summer ball and HS.
Attended camp there recently. Campus in middle of historic district. Great city but I think son wants more of "college town" feel. Field is across bridge about 5-10 min away. Nice facilities. Coaches seemed nice-dont think head coach was there. Few smaller schools sent coaches. About 45 attended.
of course younger aged camps are to make money but it gives kids chance to compare themselves to others their age and just like showcases get the nerves out so they will know how things work when they are older and attending prospect camps. Instructional camps can be good too. IMO all comes down to cost. if cheap enough and they get instruction and play games then go. I wouldn't spend a thous dollars to travel to camp as a middle schooler. I would use money for local lessons, local camps, etc.
