What division is this school, do they offer baseball money. D3 and schools like Ivy's don't offer athletic money but do offer "academic" money.

If they do offer baseball money, I would consider it as being a recruited walk-on as there will not be a NLI.

How much does the school cost, are the school fees $20,800 and the cost of room, board, books, and misc the 9K?

homerun04, i think your right. when i questioned my sons coach he refered to it as a full ride. $20800 paid out. sounds good to me.

Plash3, a full ride is not having to pay a penny for the college, including room and board. Having tuition paid for due to academics is great, you should be proud of your son for doing well in school.

If the school provides for baseball dollars (D1, D2, or NAIA), by your son getting academic dollars vs baseball dollars gives the baseball team the opportunity to get a player for "free" and have funds to obtain other players with the limited baseball dollars. Hopefully they are not a player who would displace your son in the line-up.

I have seen some players commit early under academic scholarships or financial aid with the coach saying that they see the player being a certain position player, then to turn out the coach goes out and get more position players under baseball dollars for the same position. Does not sound fair, but you may find that college baseball is a business and the coaches are selling their school to their advantage, if you can help them, that is great, but they are still there for their advantage and without baseball money, they have not commitment to you.
