We are doing some research into various 4 year college institutions trying to extrapolate how many seniors will be graduating if/when my nephew becomes a freshman. He's a pitcher so we are concerned with how many roster spots will be available.

On the roster the abbreviation of C.I./E.I. is used and listed under the column for many players are the designations SR/JR or JR/SO etc. I presume the first indicates actual college year and the second is eligibilty? Under the circumstances, which designation provides the truest indication of when players will exit the ball program?

Bobblehead is correct. As soon as you figure it out, the coach brings in 3 juco all conference guys. If you are trying to aim for the highest quality program the kid can play for, exclusive of academics and cost, just try to narrow it down to level based on NCAA or JUCO division. The roster doesn't tell you who will be drafted, flunk out, get married or wrap their truck around the coaches truck in the parking lot. Go watch some games at each level. The kid will know where he can play well.
