Son's college will have their Scout Day this week. First time they've done this since he arrived, so don't know what to expect. He's draft eligible this year. Its a strong baseball school, so I assume its a big deal and will be well attended.

Anyone's son been through this before? Son is a pitcher, so any feedback for pitchers would be appreciated. In HS scouts were really zoned in on velocity. Are the evaluations from Pro teams different at the college level than HS? Do advisors/agents follow the scouts around for these events? Other than MLB Scouting Bureau paperwork and Psych test, will son be filling out all those questionnaires again (not sure how organized he'll be now that he's on his own and his folks aren't bugging him to get these done). Many more questions on our minds, so any input would be great. I know...just relax and enjoy, but if you've done this before, thanks for the info.

Most colleges have scout days. It is no big deal and they usually talk to players they are interested in but not always.
Velocity is even more important at JR year since many players are nearing their potential. My son's scout day got rained out last week so it is rescheduled for thsi week.
Last year we had a couple freshmen throwing 90s and one hit 94. They didn't talk to them but were impressed.
Since most coaches don't like scouts trying to see players individually to hand out paperwork, most have a scout day where they get a chance to meet draft eligible players, hand out questionaires and the psych tests(yup fill them out again) and answer any questions. My son waited until his time off during Christmas to fill out all questionaires.

I would imagine that evaluations are different because your son is older and most likely improved upon his skills.

Most advisors/agents have to seek approval from the AD to speak to players on the field.
