That's the whole secret to this whole process...........................
Being "real" about the situation.
Funny thing is........most kids know. Yep, they know.
It's fine to make that rose-colored Kool-Aid, but sooner or later you have to taste it.
Exactly, Ken.
Thought you were in the DFW area BHD. Still 700 miles short of 3000.
Know is that Mansfield PA ?
I have been there and a friend of my son went to university there on a basketball scholarship. Son has also played ball there.
I always though Vegas was around 2800 until I looked it up yesterday. I still won't drive there.

TX. Texas forum is why I assumed you were in the DFW area. Sorry!

I have been to Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Laredo El Passo several times. Took a drive from El Passo down the coast to new Orleans pigging out on sea food all the way.I loved Teaxas. My son's roommate last year was from Dallas.
Break out the purple pen, Collikar.

BHD,
Let me give you an idea of just how BIG Texas is. If you flipped Texas over towards California at the tip where El Paso is, Texarkana would be way out in the Pacific Ocean.
If BBHD has driven from El Paso to New Orleans, he has a pretty good idea how big Texas is...
As long as we're talking geography, "from El Passo down the coast to New Orleans," it's about 800 miles to the gulf coast from El Paso. Then another 350 along the coast to New Orleans. The seafood is best along that last 350 miles.
On that trip we had just come from Monterrey Mexico and headed for Corpus Christie. One way to Monterrey was 2700 miles.
Ontario & Quebec are big.
Ontario & Quebec are big.
Quebec looks like it's 4-5 times the size of Texas. Ontario looks like 3-4X. I never realized they were so huge.
Yes they are huge. Lots of northern areas for hunting and fishing. I have seen a lot more of Texas than Ontario or Quebec.
I live just outside of Toronto in the Niagara penninsula near the US border. Heavily populated with the most baseball teams in Canada. Our Elite teams start playing in April and end in late October. They travel south in Oct & Nov to play a few tournaments and then head indoors for the winter workouts. This is an amazing place to play ball as you can play at a high level until you are in your 40's.

My Pre-AP World Geography classes can name all 10 Provinces and 3 Territories of Canada, PLUS the capitals for each!
So, L.A. how is Coppell, how is football?
Canada can apply for statehood all it wants. It will remain a U.S. protectorate (e.g., spare freezer).
Texan please don't bring your skis in the summer unless they are water skis.
A result for you guys to talk about-
Tigers 5
Dbat4.
Honestly, I'm too worn out to discuss it and I have homework out of my ears, so hopefully another parent from the game will come along and talk about the events... or eventually I'll just have to edit my post.

Didn't make the trip. Heard DBat had only 2 hits in that game. Also heard they lost the nightcap against the Blackhawks in the bottom of the 7th.
Also from the day before
Blackhawks 1
Tigers 8
The Tigers and Blackhawks played eachother 3 times this weekend. This is the only game I remember the score of. The second game yesterday the Tigers were ahead until the Blackhawk pitchers began to throw for the Tigers, then I think the Blackhawks had a 2 run lead. Then this morning, technically we tied, but only because of a run limit... the Blackhawks would've won.

Boy did you see all the scouts at the games yesterday and today. I'll bet I seen NONE......
Actually, I would say there were about 5-6 coaches/scouts at SMS and about 8-9 coaches/scouts at A&M. There was some serious talent out there, and some offers made to kids if I heard correctly.

KD, to bad you didn't make it down to College Station, this type of baseball is fun and different from the summer blood and guts.
DBAT's bats were cold today, but we did hit 13 batters vs. the Tigers and 12 vs. the Blackhawks. When you take 19 to 20 kids to this type of showcase and 14 of them are pitchers...well you get my drift.
Nick is a great kid, I got a chance to visit with him some today and learn a little about him. Hope you make it to Baylor next weekend, if so make sure you come say hello.

Work had a lot to do with me missing yesterday. Leaving for vacation for a week pretty soon and that means I've got to actually try to catch up some before I leave.
Thanks for the compliment! I'll be at Baylor this weekend. I've got to get my fix somehow.
KD,
I also had to work and could not make the A&M trip. Adam told me that Nick made some outstanding catches in the outfield and hit the ball hard.
Also said he looks just like he did when they played each other at the church field in Lake Dallas.

Went by the old Methodist field the other day, kinda sad to see it the way it is now.
Did you go by Falcon field? Matlock is out there everyday working his tail off. It starting to look like Ameriquest field. Hopefully we will have better results than the team that uses Ameriquest.
Well, we all know Buck Showalter and Matlock is no Buck Showalter! (thank goodness)
sorry kg,
i havent been able to answer to your post from a while ago. in a phone call to the coach i was wondering what all you say if you arent able to make a showcase/tryout for some reason(distance, prior arrangements) what do you say to them?
