Hey Shortstopmom,

Mine added about 8 pounds of muscle and seems to be enjoying the school as well as the baseball program. It is down time now, no organized training until January. I believe that he is continuing to work on his own though, he went to a strength and speed coach last night that we had help with his rehab after surgery. I bought a big block of visits that were not completely used up yet so he headed 140 miles to Tampa after classes and spent some time with the trainer there and visited his first hitting instructor that has a place just upstairs from the speed training place and hit a couple rounds. I am sure that he had a great time, and I bet that his old hitting instructor enjoyed himself too. He started seeing him when he was 9 and he is 19 now. He has seen my boy grow.
My son beat me at arm wrestling for the first time. He's up from 196 to 205, all of it muscle. He was noticeably more confident and mature in family discussions over the holidays. I even overheard him talk about a couple of girls whom he called "close acquaintances". Before, he would have called them just friends. He seems to hang out with baseball players, mostly. He's popular because he says he's got the best fake ID, but I hope he's just kidding me. In the fall baseball games which was the first time I got to see him since he went off to college, I could tell he was still physically maturing compared to the upperclassmen, but I think the difference will become marginal in the near future.
Hello guys,

Thought of reviving this topic instead of starting a new one. For a freshman parent, It was a great day to see our son again since family weekend in September. He came just in time for his 19th birthday ( His first Flight alone! ). Looking forward to spend almost a month with him under our roof and playing catch with him again.

College life for him as we have observed seems to be going well for him. He looks more mature physically ( as above..added more muscle) and mentally ( No more simple yes or no answers...)

He has a plan to continue his regular weight and agility workouts admixed with continuing to hone his baseball skills and fine tune some aspects of his game that he learned from his coaches.

He bought some books to prepare a little bit for his upcoming subjects in the spring.

Based on you guys experience, Is there any other advise you would recommend as to winter preparation as well as some tips in time management during the spring?

Thanks and Happy Holidays and hopefully a prosperous New year to all of you!
